Memperingati 10 tahun berakhirnya rezim Orde Baru, beberapa pembuat film, di antaranya Steve Pillar Setiabudi, membuat film pendek untuk merekam kehidupan setelah reformasi. Sekolah Kami, Hidup Kami adalah salah satu yang terkuat dengan merekam kesaksian para siswa sebuah SMA di Solo yang, dengan kesadaran hak politis yang kian kental, memprotes tindak korupsi guru-guru mereka. Keberanian semacam ini, yang hampir tidak dapat ditemukan di bawah naungan rezim Orde Baru yang penuh ketakutan, hampir bisa dianggap sebagai satu efek paling positif dari keterbukaan dan demokrasi.

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the end of the New Order regime, several filmmakers, one of them is Steve Pillar Setiabudi, created shorts documenting lives after. “Our School, Our Lives” is one of the strongest, by depicting now-empowered high-school students, defying the corrupt practices of their teachers. This newfound courage, almost nowhere to be found inside the previous fearful regime, was a strong point to emphasize the virtue of openness and democracy.
